Last week, XtremeLabs hosted our Understanding Copilot and Adoption webinar hosted by Chris Casingena, Content Lead at Combined Knowledge. Below we recap some highlights of our Understanding Copilot and Adoption webinar held on June 27, 2024.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the digital landscape, making it capable of designing content and aiding in decision-making. AI’s diverse applications span across many fields:

  • Robotics: Think self-driving cars like Tesla.
  • Natural Language Processing: Devices like Siri and Alexa.
  • Machine Learning: Netflix recommending shows based on your preferences.
  • Computer Vision: Facial recognition used in classroom registrations.
  • And many more!!!

Meet Copilot: Your AI-Powered Digital Assistant

Copilot, developed through a collaboration between OpenAI and Microsoft, is an AI-powered digital assistant available through various Microsoft services. Accessible via its free website (copilot.microsoft.com) and app, Copilot aims to provide a significant return on investment for Microsoft 365 license holders. With secure sign-in options for business accounts, your data remains protected.

Versatile and Multi-Functional:

Copilot offers a suite of assistants tailored to different needs:

  • Designer
  • Vacation Planner
  • Cooking Assistant
  • Fitness Trainer
  • And so much more!

For instance, a unique “New Topic” button lets you start fresh by ignoring previous searches and results. Copilot can upload and analyze pictures, summarize information (up to 500 words) in multiple languages, reply to emails, read files, and even engage in conversations. But here’s the trick: The more context you provide, the better Copilot’s results!

Challenges to Copilot Adoption:

Despite its advantages, Copilot faces some challenges:

  • No free trial is available.
  • Upfront yearly costs can make businesses hesitant to commit to large-scale rollouts.
  • Typically, pilot groups are set up for initial testing. However, without a training-focused lead-in, users’ expectations might not align with the tool’s reality.
  • Microsoft does not issue licenses directly.

Adopting Copilot for Microsoft 365:

Adoption of Copilot is a gradual process that requires flexible training approaches. Different personas may need tailored learning paths. Building feedback and use cases can help create a playbook demonstrating Copilot’s benefits to an organization. Ensuring up to date, on-demand learning for everyone post-pilot is crucial.
