XtremeLabs reflects on a year of remote work

A year into the shift to remote work, XtremeLabs outlines the infrastructure, policy, and product changes that came with it.

XtremeLabs had already begun shifting toward remote work before COVID-19 spread in early 2020. A year in, the whole company, 100% of employees worldwide, was equipped to work from home, with additional computer and office equipment supplied to every employee and office locations revamped to reduce reliance on on-site servers and data centers.

The shift changed more than logistics. Nonessential travel was suspended, new academic partnerships were formed to support partners' own shift to remote learning, and the product team put more resources into lab features built for remote classrooms as demand grew. Earlier in the year, XtremeLabs had introduced its Cloud Express Pass for AWS and Azure labs and launched an updated platform UI with new student and classroom features.

XtremeLabs also started a program to support volunteering and charitable initiatives for communities affected by the pandemic, an effort that continued in the years that followed.
