XtremeLabs announced that technology innovator John Fontaine joined the company as Chief Technology Officer to lead product innovation for its hands-on learning and training platform. In the role, Fontaine focuses on product design, user experience, and the development of industry standards for hands-on learning technology.
"Joining XtremeLabs provides an amazing opportunity to bring technology to bear to help learners everywhere succeed," said Fontaine. "I am thrilled to join the talented team of engineers, developers, and technologists at XtremeLabs."
Fontaine brings more than twenty years of experience building education technology software, with a focus on product innovation and engineering. He spent 14 years at Blackboard Inc., helping develop one of the world's most widely deployed learning management systems, and served on several IMS Global Learning Consortium committees, including the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) standards body. IMS Global recognized him with its Leadership Award for Learning Information Services work in 2012.
"Our focus on innovation in the EdTech space, and specifically hands-on learning, continues unabated," said Ahmar Abbas, CEO of XtremeLabs. "I am thrilled that John Fontaine, with his deep expertise, is joining us at this exciting time."
The hire coincided with a strong stretch for XtremeLabs: a spot on Training Industry's 2019 Watch List of Training Delivery companies, four IBA Stevie Awards in the Workforce Readiness and Computer Products categories, and continued thought leadership in defining hands-on online learning and reimagining the customer experience.
