Charting the future of the MCT program

Highlights from a webinar with Microsoft's Sarah Kong on the MCT program's FY26 direction, community growth, and coming changes.

XtremeLabs hosted a webinar with Sarah Kong, Microsoft's MCT Program Manager, on the program's direction heading into Microsoft's FY26.

Kong reported the MCT community had grown to more than 22,000 active trainers worldwide, alongside system-modernization work that had run into delayed rollouts and manual processes affecting satisfaction, and a renewed focus on instructional quality and trainer support. Looking ahead to FY26, she outlined several priorities: a revitalized digital infrastructure for enrollment and renewals, more targeted skilling resources for both technical and end-user MCTs, expanded qualification pathways aligned to Microsoft's broader skilling initiatives, and the reintroduction of a membership fee for the MCT program itself to support its long-term sustainability.

That fee applies to Microsoft's MCT program membership, not to XtremeLabs' own lab access - XtremeLabs continues to provide free lab preparation access to all MCTs regardless of any Microsoft program fee. The full recording is available to MCTs through XtremeLabs' webinar archive.
